Week 5 Power Rankings and Predictions! Where the hot chicks go when Don's not getting them... never mind.

New twist to the power rankings being added this week. To give you a feel of the trend of your (and everyone else's team, I'll be including your weekly PPG as well as the last three weeks PPG. That will be more useful as the season goes along.

12 (12). Don - Season PPG:  77.25, Last 3 weeks PPG:  78.50.  I was completely pulling for Don to break triple digits this week, but it was not to be, as he recorded a paltry 89 points.  It's puzzling why Don has finished so low until a quick observation of his team takes place.  Palmer, McGahee, Williams and Smith have all been underwhelming compared to expectations.  I don't think this is the first time Don has been told he's underwhelmed expectations, but I swear you never heard that from William Berich.  No one has ever been a bigger fan of good old fashioned Compton, CA style hustle.  Maybe teach that to Kevin Smith.

11 (10). Matt - Season PPG:  91.13, Last 3 weeks PPG:  92.50.  So admittedly I made the statement that Matt shouldn't hit the panic button on his season yet.  But I will say, if the Staples button existed in our league, it came in the form of David giving him Peyton Manning.  So there is still hope there.  Peyton won't be playing mediocre fantasy football much longer.  I will say that the season Matt is having last season is eerily familiar to the last league champion, who stunk his way to an 8th place finish and a quick boot in the playoffs.

10 (9). Ryan - Season PPG:  93.75, Last 3 weeks PPG:  95.00.  The Root Dawg has been consistant all season, scoring each week in the 90's.  Unfortunately, the 90's only work against Don and sometimes Matt.  Ryan met reality last week, losing to an admittedly overachieving STL!!! by a large margin.  I will say this... Ryan needs something this week.  Besides his marriage, there isn't a whole lot going for him.  He lives in Merced, all of his sports teams suck, he works long hours in a coal mine, and his dog recently died of syphillis.  That's right.  I didn't make any of this up.

9 (11). Dan - Season PPG: 98.00, Last 3 weeks PPG: 106.67. Finally breaking out of his season-long slumber, Dan is looking to build some momentum after posting over 130 points last week. Dan has had some big time slumps from players he was leaning on to succeed, and could use resurgences from several players to aid a comeback attempt. I pray for this, since I know Dan barely trails Kevin in GM most likely to fire sale his team for future keepers. Remember kids, only four next year!

8 (7). Reid - Season PPG: 100.00, Last 3 weeks PPG: 109.00.  This can't last.  Can it?  Is Phillip Rivers the real deal QB his stats in the first month have shown him to be?  Is Jonathan Stewart going to hit a wall?  Has anyone seen DeAngelo Williams?  Or Joseph Addai?  Or Plaxico Burress?  Sorry, all this talk about Jonathan Stewart got me all riled up to be rid of DAW and it kind of went from there.  Reid is riding a roster that should have no chance to score impressive victories to a better than expected 2-2 mark.  A tough, close loss to Jerad mars what could have been a shocking 3-1 beginning.

7 (8). Cory - Season PPG: 100.63, Last 3 weeks PPG: 115.5. Who needs Tom Brady? Entering the fourth week without Captain Patriot, Cory is riding a two game winning streak after posting consecutive weeks that were polar opposites from the first two. As in, the first two sucked, the last two have been quality. Cory is facing soulmate good buddy Kevin in this week's matchup. Will Kevin quit the worst joke of the season and finally put his starters in? Or will the gentle embrace of a rugby player be too much for him, giving Cory the forfeited win? It all comes down to Kevin (shudder).

6 (2). Kevin - Season PPG: 127.38, Last 3 weeks PPG: 138.00.  The rankings giveth and the rankings taketh away.  Kevin was poised to earn the top spot for his very own, but he ran into the buzzsaw that is the Nick Nevares experience.  The ranking committee simply could not justify a higher ranking for a team on the brink of being out of the playoff picture.  Though Kevin has been one of the highest scoring teams recently, they haven't equalled victories as several good performances were lost to better ones.  Our fingers are crossed that Kevin keeps all of his players out this week as a fall to 2-3 would be a nice place for Mr. LeDuc.  That way, he could justify trading Brandon Marshall to Cory before Week 7.

5 (1). Doug - Season PPG: 138.5, Last 3 weeks PPG: 128.16.  Last week, I mentioned that Doug deserved to drop, but didn't drop him... based on the fact that he was still the dominant scoring team.  I could do no such thing this week.  Tied for the biggest drop of the week, Doug falls to #5 on account of the fact that he has lost two straight to blatantly beatable teams.  There has been no reason for this, except that once again the fantasy gods remember... they always remember.  Ask Dan how his teams have done across all the sports this year.  Is Reid the cure for all that ails him?  5 out of 6 women already have said "yes".

4 (6). David - Season PPG: 107.25, Last 3 weeks PPG: 95.8. David has been SLUMPING in points, yet somehow finds himself in 4th place in the league because the fantasy gods tire of the boasts of Doug and the disrespectfulness of Kevin. Scoring less than 100 PPG the last 3 weeks, David still managed a huge upset win over Doug thanks to the sexy work of one Jeff Reed and finds himself crotch deep in playoff implications.

3 (5). STL!!! - Season PPG: 116.50, Last 3 weeks PPG: 121.33. What do you get when a 2-1 team wins and two 2-1 teams lose? A bump into the top 3! Doug and Kevin's losses were the Leg's fortune as a bang up win against Ryan moves them on up. STL!!! is coming into their game this week shorthanded as Plaxico Burress and his backhanded slap will be missing the game this weekend, putting a sizable hole in the Leg's fortunes against league powerhouse Jerad. Can Garrard put together another decent game to keep the ship together?

2 (4). Jerad - Season PPG: 104.63, Last 3 weeks PPG: 99.33. Jerad is another big winner of the Doug/Kevin debacle weekend. Jerad hasn't been winning pretty, but he's been solid the whole season, going 4-0 even with scoring less than 100 PPG the last 3 weeks. Jerad's stars have struggled some the last couple of weeks, as most of Jerad's fortunes live and die by the Cowboys. This puts your humble author in a tough place. If the Cowboys do well, it will probably come at the expense of STL!!! Oh well, Go Romo!

1 (3). Nick - Season PPG: 119.38, Last 3 weeks PPG: 122.33. We're all moving up 2 spots! Nick has not had a letdown for any game this season, with his low coming in Week 1 scoring 110.5 points. One of the most consistant players in the league so far, Nick has earned the #1 ranking by defeating all comers, including league jester Kevin in a comfortable 18.5 point win last week. There should be no reason that Nick falls to 4-1 as he takes on defending champion Matt at home in Poway.

Now to the sexy predictions...Week 3, I was 3-3. For the season, I'm 11-7.

Cory vs. Kevin:  Frick, I couldn't care less.  Either way, one of these guys is getting taken out to a nice dinner after Monday night to celebrate.  Kevin 120, Cory 100.

Don vs. David:  Is it possible for Don to beat anyone?  At all?  The whole season?  COULD DON GO 0-FER this year?  I don't know.  David doesn't want to be that guy.  David 110, Don 90.

Reid vs. Doug:  Doug has pride.  You can tell from his posts.  What Doug needs even more than that to repair said pride is a win.  Reid is willing to oblige this week.  By the way, you ripped off my predictions inm the Loma league, Doug.  Bet you never mentioned that.  Doug 125, Reid 110.

Nick vs. Matt:  Matt has a new TE and a new outlook on life.  Nick simply has the better team.  Nick 130, Matt 100.

Dan vs. Ryan :   This is the Tyler Thigpen/Chad Pennington matchup of the week.  If you're not Dan or Ryan, you don't care about this game.  Come to think of it, if you're those guys too you might not care.  Dan 100, Ryan 90.

STL!!! vs. Jerad:  Game of the Week.  Jerad is riding high, going 4-0.  STL!!! is missing Plax and looking beatable this week.  But you know what?  I'm feeling chippy.  Upset of the Week as well.   STL!!! 110, Jerad 95.

Nick would like to officially vote against himself. Have you seen the team I am fielding this week. I think I am a better football player than half the guys I am putting on the field. I am embarassed and let down by the product I am producing. I do apologize.

The Leinart photo is down right disturbing. It was creepy then, and it's creepy now.

It does somehow resemble Kevin's baseball championship photo.

Hmm...

Alas, the drop has inspired my team. Back on the winning track ... in at least one league. Ouch.
