Week 4 Power Rankings/Predictions

12 (12). Don - I think it's safe to say that most of us (including your humble author) were wrong about both Kevin and Don.  For Don, that's a bad thing.  By far, the league's doormat, Don is close to doing what no man thought was possible:  keeping Ryan Root from the league basement.  While his perfomance last week wasn't bad, he's now an underdog against new league heartthrob Cory in Week 4.

11 (10). Dan - The slow decension down to the league floor has continued for Dan this week after another uninspired loss.  No one is really sure what's wrong with his team besides the obvious statement that it's just not that good.  Braylon Edwards has disappeared and AD Peterson is simply not finding the end zone much yet.  A winnable match with Matt awaits in week 4.

10 (8). Matt - Is it time to hit the panic button?  NO!  Matt made one trade I didn't get and one trade that is absolutely absurd this week when he traded away Chad Johnson but got back Peyton Manning in the same week.  The moves set up Matt for a bit of a surge in the coming weeks, depending on how well Peyton can play for him.  Best case scenario:  having the new QB pushes him into the top 5 of the league by week 8.  Way to finally give Manning away once you actually decided to trade him, Davy.

9 (9). Ryan - Fortunately for Ryan, his loss this past week does nothing to change his ranking, as the ranksman saw fit to drop others for lesser performances and bigger let downs.  Ryan has been a lot of things:  husband, male gigolo, circus freak, and daughter come to mind- but what he's never done in the league is make the playoffs.  Is he there yet?  Not even close.  But a win against the Jekyll and Hyde STL!!! might send some shockwaves around the league.

8 (11). Cory - After the upset of the year, you know I had to give Cory a bump.  Doug was riding high and talking the smack, but met the brick wall that is the Ronnie Brown show.  How impressive was this win?  Doug had two players in the top three in scoring and still couldn't win.  It's yet to be seen if the Patriot lover can pull it off for another week, but an easy win looks to be had at the expense of the Longies.  A win there would send him to .500 and get Kevin's heart a-fluttering.

7 (2). David - Biggest drop of the week goes to the player with the worst performance of week 3.  Not only did he only manage less than 80 points in what had to have been the fantasy letdown matchup of the week, he officially took the plunge and traded the super reliable Manning for the sexier, gaudier stats of Drew Brees.  The risk has finally been taken.  The Chargers made the wrong move, will David win by making the opposite one?

6 (7). Reid - Don't look now, but Captain Big Balls himself is knocking on the door of contendership.  I don't even think that's a word.  I hate you, English.  Led by Phil Rivers and the shocking yet awesome play of Felix Jones, Reid is 2-1.  Can you believe it?  It should come as no surprise, since Reid made a habit of winning games and winning over the hearts of women everywhere last season.  Now it's on to take David in what has now turned into an intriguing matchup.

5 (6). STL!!! - LT and Antonio Gates both bouncing back has STL!!! optimistic about some more wins in the future.  Add in the first good performance by Housh all season, and the team is just beside itself.  But then mention the QB situation, and the room gets very quiet again.  Very quiet.  It's going to be hard to predict how this team does if they can't find solid QB play.

4 (3). Jerad - You hate knocking down a 3-0 team, but I simply haven't been as impressed with his performances as I have with others.  Anyone could have beaten David in Week 3 and Jerad would have lost to every other Week 3 winner.  A statement making performance is in order against a beatable Big Balls team.  You can do it, Chewy.

3 (4). Nick - Nick has been getting by as well on some less than stellar competition, but has been doing what he needs to do to bring it every week.  Being 4-0 into week 4 will assuredly bump him into the top 2.  Love the matchup with new superpower Kevin this week.  It all comes down to this!  Ok, no it doesn't.

2 (5). Kevin - Wow.  I don't think his ego needs to have him ranked this high already, but I can't fault him for that.  Kevin's team is firing on all cylinders and looking dominant.  He may have traded away the wrong QB, but he gets some serious young weapons in Steve Slaton and Desean Jackson.  Can he beat Nick and cement his place near the top?

1 (1). Doug - He deserved to drop.  He really did.  But he also scored 134 points in a week that would have beaten anyone else except Kevin.  So even though he's 2-1, you have to believe that he'd beat the men below him on an average day.  And you know Doug knows his mettle with men below him.

Now to the sexy predictions...last week I was 4-2. For the season, I'm 8-4.

Cory vs. Don:  I honestly think Cory could sit 4 guys and still beat Don.  I really do.  Don, get your team in shape!  Cory 100, Don 75.

Doug vs. David:  A week ago, I'd say this was a great matchup.  Now, I'm not so sure David can hang.  Let's see how he bounces back in Week 4.  But for me, I'm not betting on Senor Del Llano until I see a victory.  Doug 130, David 110.

Reid vs. Jerad: If there was ever a game where Reid could make a statement, it will be against Jerad.  Jerad looks weak after last week's borefest with David, but is always a risk for a big week.  I don't really think Reid can win this one, but this is why white people play fantasy sports.  Reid 110, Jerad 108.

Dan vs. Matt:  Yawn.  I guess Dan needs the win more, but right now, both teams are in a rut.  Matt 100, Dan 90.

Nick vs. Kevin :   The game of the week.  Kevin is riding high after having the performance of the week.  Nick is 3-0 and not looking to back down.  Something has to give.  Nick 120, Kevin 100.

STL!!! vs. Ryan:  This is the kind of game that STL!!! needs to win, yet rarely does.  Is Ryan ready to stop being the league punching bag?  We'll find out in a few short days.  STL!!! 100, Ryan 95.

I can only hope that the same karma you've had this year reverses like it did for your allegedly favorite NFL team (convenient) this year.
